Obituary for Arthur Jerry Brown

Arthur Jerry Brown went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 1, 2013. Arthur was born in Battle Creek, Michigan in 1937 to Arthur John Brown and Ruby Marie Gossett.
At the age of seven, his father was killed in WWII, leaving Ruby alone to raise him and his two siblings. He was educated in Battle Creek and attended Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, Illinois. He joined the Air Force, spending four years at Prestwick Air Force Base in Scotland with the Air Force police. He worked at Ralston Foods, retiring after 33 years of service.
In 1964, Art married Virginia Jo Roddy. They have two daughters: Kimberly (Scott) Rude and Gina (David) Knickerbocker; two grandchildren: Kailee Knickerbocker and Nicholas Knickerbocker; and one great-grandchild: Kaden Reeves. Also surviving, a brother Ronald G. Brown of Fort Pierce, Florida, a sister, Joyce Weigand, of Springfield, Missouri and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Art loved sports, especially fishing with his grandson. Art loved working in his yard and travelling, but his absolute favorite place was his backyard, picnicking with family and friends. He was known in his neighborhood for the past 24 years as the friendly walker. Although Art was unable to walk the neighborhood the last part of his life, we know he is now walking again.
A funeral service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 11 AM.
Burial of ashes at a later date at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
Memorial tributes may be made to the Parkinson Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
