Audrey Elizabeth Simons, 99, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Easter Cottages. She was born on March 26, 1918, the daughter of Joseph James Martin and Elsie M (Webb) Martin.
Audrey attended St. Phil School but graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1936 and attended Battle Creek College as a dietetic student. She played the organ at St. Philip and W.K. Kellogg auditorium for her graduation. She was very proud of her work ethic and worked until her retirement and then in Florida as a retail clerk until she was 82 years old.
Audrey is survived by her children, Robert (Carole) Simons, Sandra (Anthony) Calderone, Anne Stanfield and Patrick Simons; 16 Grandchildren; Roberta Zinsmeyer, Debbie Petkov, Robert Simons Jr., Santo Calderone, Cathy Harper, Teresa Lohmeier, Michael Calderone, Marie Angela Calderone, Elizabeth Holmberg, Ashleigh Calderone, Ciara Calderone, Kristin Ascherin, Stacey Mavilia, Shawnee Simons, Gena Mendoza, and Jeffery Simons; 32 Great-Grandchildren; 6 Great-Great Grandchildren, and a host of other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her Son, Joseph Martin Simons, her Husband, Robert Elliott Simons, and her Sister, Louise Martin.
Audrey enjoyed traveling with her late husband extensively around the entire world. She particularly enjoyed the trip to Barcelona. Audrey and her husband were members of the Civil air patrol and she was very proud of that. She lived in Florida from 1977 for 35 years until she returned in 2012 to be closer to her family.
