Obituary for Charlie Mae Pettis (Martin)

Charlie  Mae  Pettis (Martin)
Rev. Charlie Mae (Martin) Pettis, 83, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at her home. She was born on April 17, 1931, the daughter of John and Annie Bee (Gordon) Martin.
Charlie was a Pastor in Battle Creek for over 40 years. She was the pastor of the Bright Star Faith Temple for the last 30 years until retiring in 2007.
Charlie is survived Daughters: Joyce Brown, Ruth "Gail" Pettis, Sharon Pettis and Lorraine Crowder; Sons: Kenny Pettis, Smith Pettis and Craig (Belinda) Pettis; 18 Grandchildren; 35 Great Grandchildren; 17 Great-Great Grandchildren; Sisters: Hiawatha Hinton and Ellen Spraggins; Brothers: Eunice Martin, Riley Martin and George Martin. She was preceded in death by her Parents; her Husband: Edward Pettis Sr.; Sons: Edward Pettis Jr., Ronnie Pettis and Thomas Pettis; 1 Granddaughter; Brothers & Sisters: Ruth, Ruby, Harry, Calvin, Robert, Albert, Gold and Billy.
Charlie loved fishing, gardening, helping and counseling others. She was a long standing member of the Minister's Alliance in Battle Creek.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 West Dickman Road, on Sunday July 27, 2014 from 4 PM to 8 PM.
A funeral service will be held at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 638 W. Van Buren, on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 11 AM with Rev. Timothy Troxler officiating.
Interment will take place in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
