Daniel “Ronnie” Derone Simmons, 63, of Detroit, MI, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, November 25, 2012 in Detroit Michigan. He was born November 14, 1949 the son of Daniel James Simmons and Bessie Lee (Carter) Simmons.
Ronnie was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School and received his accounting degree from Eastern Michigan University. He was employed as an accountant with the State of Michigan for 10 years and later was the driver for Checker Cab in Detroit for over 40 years where he owned his own cab.
Ronnie is survived by Sister: Regina (Moorer) Lane of Battle Creek, MI; Sister-In-Law: Ruby Simmons of Flint, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Brothers: William, Lawrence, Angelo and Clifton; Sister: Diann; 1 great niece and 1 great nephew.
Ronnie has been serving the Lord for over 30 years. When he younger he was a master pinocle player and received many awards and trophies. He also enjoyed bowling and golfing. He was a member of City Temple Seventh Day Adventist Church in Detroit where he served as trustee and deacon.
Visitation will be held at Berean Seventh Day Adventist Church, 620 N. Washington Street, Battle Creek on Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 12 Noon to 1 PM with a funeral service beginning at 1 PM.
Memorial tributes may be made to the City Temple Seventh Day Adventist Church.
