Darla Marie (Brigham) Christ was born June 1, 1941 and went home to be with the Lord on March 2, 2014. Darla was born in Dowagiac, Michigan to John Marshall Brigham and Bettie Jean (Dorman) Brigham. She graduated from Decatur High School after being crowned Miss Decatur 1959. Darla graduated with her RN in nursing in 1962 from Deaconess Evangelical Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She worked in many nursing disciplines before retiring from the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center. She married Gerald Wengle (now deceased) on November 9, 1963 and had two children (Beth, Jeff). She married Lewis Harold (Hal) Christ on August 16, 1986 and added two daughters to her family (Sherry, Terry). She is preceded in death by her parents, and beloved pets, Spikie and Skippy. She is survived by her husband, Hal, and her four children: Beth (Bryan) Denbrock of Marshall, MI, Sherry (Jason) Wright of Westland, MI, Terry (Evan) Earl of Marshall, MI, and Jeff (Lori) Wengle of Howell, MI. Also surviving her are seven grandchildren, Victoria, James, Hope, Tyler, Tori, Aaron and Ian, and five siblings, Mike (Judy) Brigham of Decatur, MI, Drenda (Richard) Thornburg of Paw Paw, MI, Greg (Carol) Brigham of Charlotte, NC, Gary Brigham of Detroit, MI, and DaRhonda (Michael) Hendrickson of Decatur, MI. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 12:00 pm at Crossroads Church and Ministries located at 14701 North Old U.S. 27, Marshall, MI. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Darla’s name to Oaklawn Hospice @ 122 High Street, Marshall, MI 49068 or to International Justice Mission (IJM) in care of Crossroads Church & Ministries.
