Obituary for Debra Jo Fletcher

Debra Jo Fletcher, 58, of Marshall, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, February 5, 2017. She was born June 8, 1958 in Elkhart, Indiana.
Deb is survived by her loving Husband of 34 years, James Fletcher of Marshall, MI; Mother and Father, Merlene (Thiele) & Ronald Perrin of Phoenix, AZ; Daughters, Lauren (Joe) Fletcher-Morehouse of Detroit, MI and Megan (Chris) Sutton of Orlando, FL; Grandchildren, Lauren & David Sutton; Brothers, Doug Chrispyn of Marshall, MI, Joe (Shawn) Chrispyn of Battle Creek, MI and Kevin (Karen) Perrin of North Carolina; Sister, Wendy (Joe) Vadnais of Dearborn, MI, as well as her beloved in-laws and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Father, Jerry Chrispyn.
Deb loved all aspects of life including golfing, snowshoeing with her dog Brutus, jogging, gardening, and bowling. She was an avid sports fan (especially Ohio State Football and the Chicago Cubs). She was a proud member the Marshall United Methodist Church where she played in the bell choir and sang in the choir. She served on the board of directors for the Marshall Fountain Clinic and was a long-time member of Marshall Country Club where she was an avid golfer. She also enjoyed making breakfast at the homeless shelter. Deb had so much love to spread, and she loved spending time with friends and family. She loved going out for Mexican food and margaritas with her dear friend David Sly (they are now reunited and laughing together again). Those who had the pleasure of spending time with her knew her contagious laugh. Whether she was driving across country with her “golfing gals” or practicing her bell-ringing on a Tuesday evening, she could find humor in every situation. She had a unique love for all things Christmas, and could make even the biggest humbug a believer with her year-long Santa decorations. Did I forget to mention she loved to golf?
Deb was always concerned about the well being of others before herself. During her nearly 2-year battle with cancer, she was constantly comforting her friends and family making sure no one around her experienced sadness or worry. Participating in her daughter's wedding on July 23, 2016 brought her so much joy, and was one of the highlights of her life.
Visitation will be held at the Marshall United Methodist Church, 721 Old US 27, Marshall, MI, on Monday February 13, 2017 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. A Memorial Service will be held immediately following with Pastor Patricia Bromberek officiating. A luncheon will be held at the church after the service. All are welcome.
A private interment will take place in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The Fountain Clinic of Marshall or The Hermelin Brain Tumor Center at Henry Ford Hospital.
