Donald "Chief" Howard Smith, 67, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 19, 1949, the son of Milton Smith and Mildred (Burghett) Smith.
Donald graduated from high school in 1967. He worked at Post cereals for 37 years.
Chief is survived by his Wife of 18 years - Florence (Connell) Smith; four step-daughters, Nancy, Jody, Kim, and Kelly; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two siblings, Raymond Smith and Margaret Coss. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and a sister.
Don absolutely loved racing, top speed drag racing and he even owned his own race car. He also enjoyed traveling and playing bingo. He was a good man and loved his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
