Dorothy Marian Wright, 96, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017. She was born on May 9, 1920, the daughter of Harold and Blanche (Bowles) Watkins.
Dorothy graduated from Lakeview High School. For a short time, she worked as a clerk at a dime store in Battle Creek. She married Sidney Wright on April 5, 1941. Dorothy became a very hard-working and industrious farm wife. She raised chickens and sold eggs for many years as well as selling hay, sweet corn, tomatoes, pumpkins and other produce at their roadside stand on Watkins Road.
Dorothy enjoyed flowers and she grew many types in the garden and beds around her house. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Dorothy attended First Assembly of God and later Faith Baptist Church while her health permitted.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 76 years, Sidney Wright of Battle Creek, MI; son, Allen (Jean) Wright of Battle Creek, MI; grandsons, Joe (Karen) Wright and Jason (Shawn) Wright both of Battle Creek, MI; granddaughter, Melissa (Jim) Riley of Eaton Rapids, MI; 11 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson and niece, Patti (Jack) Sylvester of Battle Creek, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Delma Spooner.
