Frederick Julius Spinney, 76, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Borgess Medical Center. He was born on October 17, 1939, the son of Otis Spinney and Kathleen (Hicks) Spinney.
Fred grew up in Lansing, MI. He joined the United States Army and served faithfully for several years. He met his wife Beverly and they began their family.
Fred is survived by his children, Sheryll Spinney, Jimmy Spinney, Nanette Kline, Sharry Lee, and Garry (Cindy) Mainstone; a brother, Bruce Spinney and sister, Laura Wells; 15 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Beverly Spinney, son, Larry Caswell, brother, Roy Spinney, sisters, Margie Rogers and Vivian Kline.
Fred loved the races. He enjoyed watching and participating in any type of racing. In his younger years, he loved to fish. He was a very savvy shopper and he enjoyed price comparing and getting the best bang for his buck. Fred loved gathering his family together for picnics and especially enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a very giving man and would help anybody in any way that he could. He had a heart of gold and he will be missed dearly by all those who knew him.
