Obituary for Gary Warner

Gary Warner passed away peacefully after a long battle with cirrhosis, Sunday, December 4, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Merrill & LaVera Warner February 15, 1934 in Battle Creek.

Gary graduated from Kellogg Hickory Corners in 1952. He then spent 4 years in the Navy serving his country. In 1992 he retired from Post Cereal Co. after 34 years of employment.

Gary was a great softball player who not only could pitch the softball with both hands; he didn’t wear a baseball glove. He put great teams together and played in several tournaments at Bailey Park. Gary was an avid sports fan following U of M, the Tigers, and the Lions. But his favorite little athletes were his grandson’s Bradley who played football and Brady who played baseball, never missing a game. Gary loved socializing and being with his friends. He was a member of PNA, Eagles Club, and Post Cereal’s 25 Year Club.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Diane Warner; son, Matthew Warner; step-daughter, Sharon Reynolds; step-sons, Danny Norrod, Mike (Lyn) Norrod, Diane Yarger; granddaughter, D’Neil Reynolds; grandson’s, Brady Warner, Bradley Corey; 4 step grandchildren; sister, Patricia Rosell and half brother Keith Iden. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held on Friday December 9, 2011 at 10:30AM at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Friends may send condolences or share a memory at baxterfuneral.com. Arrangements by the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service.
