Obituary for George Jackson Jr.

George Jackson Jr, 81, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 12, 2016 at VA Medical Center. He was born in Tuskegee, AL on January 6, 1935, the son of George Jackson and Beatrice (Walker) Jackson.
George attended Tuskegee Institute High School. He was Honorably discharged from the US Army where he served from 1954 thru 1957. He made his home in Battle Creek where he started his career in the manufacturing world. He ended his career from Kellogg in the early 1990's. He later became the "Avon Man" for approximately 40 years. He loved bowling and was on at least one league. Additionally, he owned his own convenience store and apartment complex. He enjoyed investing his money in the stock market. Later he went into a successful landscaping business. "Like most human beings I have had my trials and tribulations. God also blessed me with many happy experiences. To all that I leave behind, walk with God, learn from your mistakes and be good to others and yourself. To my family and friends don't be sad, smile with me because I lived a good life. God be with you until we meet again."
Stonewall is survived by his son, Torres T Jackson of Battle Creek, MI; daughter, Theresa Jackson of Battle Creek, and three daughters by marriage Donna Jean Alexander of Battle Creek, MI, Paulette Hargrove of Detroit, Paula Butler of Sacramento, CA; three surviving sisters, Arrie Martin of Battle Creek, Linda Jackson of NY, Ethel Jackson of NY; Brother, James Jackson of FL; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; former wife of 32 years - Lillie (Butler) Jackson of Battle Creek, Michigan; very special friend Lana J Crockett of Battle Creek; Booker Barbee of Battle Creek. He was preceded in death by his Father, George Jackson, mother, Beatrice Jackson, sister Samantha Jackson step-son Laverne Butler.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Monday September 26 from 10:30 to 11:30.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 immediately following the visitation, Rev. Douglas Banks of Mt. Zion AME Church officiating.
Interment will take place in the Fort Custer National Cemetery.
