Gertrude Elizabeth Mohney, 95, of East Leroy, Michigan, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015 at the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. She was born on April 25, 1919, the daughter of Herman and Gertrude (Branch) Shingledecker.
Gertie graduated from a one room school house in Lawton, MI. She was a homemaker most of her life, but during WWII was employed at Oliver Aviation Co. as one of the "Rosie the Riveter" women.
Gertie is survived by her Daughters: Margaret Anne (William) McMillan of Battle Creek, MI and Barbara Jean Folger of East Leroy, MI; 5 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren & 10 Great-Great Grandchildren; Sister-in-Law: Roberta Shingledecker of Three Rivers, MI and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Parents; her Husband of 69 years: Milo Frank Mohney (July 20, 2005); 4 Brothers & 3 Sisters.
Gertie enjoyed crocheting, camping, mushroom hunting, traveling and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Baking was her favorite thing to do and she loved spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 2 PM with pastor Ralph Cates of Victory Life Church officiating.
Interment will take place in the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
