Gwendolyn Gayle Newberry, 72, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 26, 1944, the daughter of Glenn Hayes Shipman and Leontina Margurit (Grossman) Shipman.
Gwen worked as a Travel agent, and she owned her own traveling agency at one time. She was a prior member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 299 and was the secretary.
Gwen is survived by her Husband of 28 years - Allen W. Newberry; Son, Kenneth D Ziegler; Daughters, Denise (Joe) Shepard, and Teri Ziegler; Step-Daughters, Kris (Scott) Mesack, and Penny (Bob) Parker; Step-Son, Steven (Christina) Newberry; 19 Grandchildren; 12 Great-Grandchildren; Sister, Beverly Ann (Dale) Kucera of Oregon and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and other loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings, and one Grandson, Jesse Shephard.
Gwen was a wonderful wife and mother. She was a fantastic cook and she enjoyed sewing. Her family was her world and she adored her kids and grandkids. She had a heart of gold and she enjoyed staying busy with crafts, sewing, and other activities.
A memorial service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at 11:00 am.
