Helen Elizabeth (Zimmerman) Rizor, 96, of Battle Creek, MI, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at The Oaks at North Pointe Woods. She was born June 20, 1916 the daughter of Herbert Willard Zimmerman and Susie Mae (Scrogum) Zimmerman. The family moved to Sears, MI in 1919.
Helen married Warren Charles Rizor on July 22, 1934. They moved to Battle Creek in 1935. He preceded her in death September 30, 2001 after 67 years of marriage.
Helen is survived by 2 Sons: Leonard D. (Diane) Rizor of Marshall, MI and Donald L. Rizor of Battle Creek, MI; 2 Daughters: Barbara J. Rizor and Bonnie (Dick) Rizor Howell both of Battle Creek; 8 Grandchildren, 16 Great-Grandchildren, 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Brother: Robert Zimmerman; 2 Sisters: Edna Moore and Virginia Huff ; 1 Grandson.
Helen was a Battle Creek precinct worker for municipal, school and federal elections for 30 years. She was a member of the Three Quarter Century Club, United Steel & Wire Retirees Group and former member of the Valentine Center & Calhoun County Extension Group. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, knitting, crocheting and time with her family and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Friday, March 1, 2013 from 9 AM to 10 AM.
A graveside service will be held at Hicks Cemetery on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 10:30 AM.
Memorial tributes may be made to the Charity of one's choice.
