Obituary for Howard Lee Wonderly

Howard Lee Wonderly passed away on Saturday November 28, 2015.
He was born in Battle Creek at Nickoles Hospital 2-24-36
Graduated Bellevue High School 1954
Joined Navy May 1955 to 1959 serving as 2nd class
communications electrician on the aircraft carrier USS Randolf
CVA 15 and the destroyer USS Norris DDE 859.
After being honorably discharged he married Lorraine Orcutt
He worked at Grand Trunk RR as an electrician, He joined the Battle Creek Police Department 1962 to 1983 when he merged with Battle Creek City PD and retired in 1988. He served as the president of the F.O.P. lodge 153, president Battle Creek Police Officers Relief, president Black Spruce River Club, Member of Westlake Presbyterian Church serving as Elder and Deacon, and member of the Men's club.

He is survived by Wife Lorraine of 56 years, daughter Christy Wonderly, Grandaughter Jessica (Josh) Lazarus, special Grandaughter Hannah Lazarus, and great grandchildren Issac and Eli Lazarus. Preceded in death by Son, Terry Wonderly. He loved fishing and hunting, camping, singing barbershop and the church choir, watching Lions football with daughter Christy.

Memorial Service will be held at the Westlake Presbyterian Church, 415 S. 28th Street at 11:00 AM Friday December 4th. Memorials may be made to: American Leukemia Society or American Liver Cancer Society.
