James Estel Brawley, 70, of Portage, Michigan, died on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Borgess Medical Center. He was born on October 13, 1943, the son of Ike Brawley and Esther (Krous) Moles.
Jim was a 1961 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. He served in the US Army from 1965 to 1968 He retired from the Battle Creek Waste Water Treatment Plant after 25 1/2 years. He was formerly employed at Eaton Mfg. and American Fire Pump.
Jim is survived by his Wife of 1year - Patricia Ann (Carley) Brawley of Portage, Michigan; Daughter, Michelle (Michael) Korelich , MI; Son, James Booth, two Grandchildren, David, Alexis; Sister, Beth (Steve) Shepard ; Nieces, Tonja Brawley, Kateri Webb, Liz Coffey; Nephews, John Brawley, John Sajtar, Eric Sajtar; Russ, Tom, Rick, Tony & Randy Parlier, Bob, Scott Coffey, Sister in law Norma Brawley. He was preceded in death by his Father, Ike Brawley, Mother, Esther Moles, Sister, Nancy Parlier, Geraldine Coffey, Brother, Richard W. Brawley, Nephew Rich Brawley.
He loved spending time with his family and attended the South Side Bible Church.
A Memorial will be held South Side Bible Church, September 1, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Pastor Mike Brown officiating.
Interment will take place in the Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date.
