Obituary for Jerry Lee Bailey

Jerry Lee Bailey, 80, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2015 at home. He was born on January 9, 1935, the son of Russell Bailey and Clara (Vandenburg) Bailey Rodden.
Jerry was a mail carrier in Battle Creek for 34 years. He was a member of the Dexter Lake Church of God for 20 years alongside his wife. He was very involved in the mission trips through the church. Jerry served in French Morocco Africa during the Korean War. He had just returned from Talons Out Honor Flight from Washington DC, recognizing WWII and Korean War Vets.
Jerry is survived by his Wife of 33 years - Ida (Potter) Bailey; Daughters, Mary Kay (David) Hallaxs, Darlene (James) Anthony, Joann Kerns, Scarlet (Don) Anderson, Henrietta McLaughin, Roseann (Randy) Robbins, Shawn Beach, and Brenda (Glenn) White; Sons, Ronald (Jennifer) Bailey, and Tom Beach; 22 Grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; Sister, Susan (Mike) Uhl of TX; and Brother, Robert Bailey of FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Identical Twin, Jack Bailey, Sisters, Betty and Bev Bailey, and his previous wife and mother of 3 of his children, Mary (Baslock) Bailey.
Jerry's passion was fishing and ham radio operator for more than 50 years. His call signal was WB8FBJ. (This is WB8FBJ signing off.) He was a family man who loved spending time with them, especially his grandkids. His biggest achievement was leading his best friend Bill to the Lord. He was so proud of that. Jerry was a good man with a big heart who will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation was held at Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Tuesday December 1, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
A funeral service was held at Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, 2:00 pm with Pastor Blaine Faircloth of Dexter Lake Church of God officiating.
Interment will take place in Fort Custer National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to: Bronson at Home Hospice, Talons Out Honor Flight or Dexter Lake Church of God.
