Joanna D. Mayfield, age 71, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012. She was born August 1, 1941 in Marianna, Arkansas. She was an only child born to Jesse Branch and Ethel Foreman. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1959. After high school she attended Kellogg Community College. Joanna was employed with the Kellogg Company and the Kellogg Foundation, where she retired. She was an avid bowler who also enjoyed cross word puzzles, comic strips, playing cards, loved animals, softball and watching sports.

She is survived by; two sons, Eric Smith, Sr. of Battle Creek, MI and Kevin Gregory of Battle Creek, MI; her mother and step-father Ethel (Bonny) Clark; three grandchildren, Jasmine Smith, Eric Smith, Jr. and Erinn Smith; best friend, Ruthann Gray, special sons, Daleray Edwards, Sr., Robert Reichel, and Michael Gudger; cousins, Jerome Clark of Battle Creek, MI, Danny Gregory of Savannah, GA; a host of cousins, family and friends.

Family will receive friends at Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 12 noon to 1:00PM. The memorial service will follow at 1:00PM. Interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to Heartland Hospice.
