John Truman Holder, 87, of Battle Creek, Michigan, died on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Moore's Assisted Living. He was born on February 11, 1927, the son of Benjamin M. Holder and Mary E. (Barton) Holder.
John was a 1945 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. He served in the US Navy during WWII and then received his Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University. John was employed at Kellogg's for 34 years until retiring in 1985.
John is survived by his Wife of 59 years - Marie Joyce (Hughey) Holder of Battle Creek, Michigan; Three Sons, Ron (Debbie White) Holder of Battle Creek, MI, Robert (Robbin) Holder of Wauconda, IL, William (Ruth Anne Morris) Holder of Battle Creek, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Paul Holder and sister Nell Hendricksen.
John enjoyed photography, hiking, hunting, antique collecting, yard work, working with his hands and dancing with his wife. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. After retirement, John and Joyce enjoyed spending the winter months in LaFeria, TX.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Tuesday, December 9th from 2pm to 4 pm with a celebration of life beginning 6 pm to 8 pm.
A graveside service will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, on Wednesday, December 10th at 12 pm followed by interment.
Memorial tributes may be made to the Habitat for Humanity or the Food Bank of South Central Michigan.
