John “John Boy” Lake, age 61, of Marshall, MI, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2013 surrounded by family. He was born October 3, 1952 to LaVern & AnnaMae Lake in Battle Creek, MI. He met the love of his life, Martha Mapes. They were married on January 14, 1978 in Battle Creek, MI at Convis Union United Methodist Church. John was employed with Weaver Trucking, Advanced Paving, Michigan Livestock and Steve Vaughn Trucking. He enjoyed farming, his draft horses, shooting pool and snowmobiling. Most of all he loved his family and grandchildren.

He was survived by his loving wife, Martha, of 36 years; children, Charlene Mapes, Shawn (Jennifer) Lake, Mark (Renee) Lake, Brad (Teresa) Lake; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchildren; brother, Luke (Sharon) Lake; sisters, Barbara Drake, Linda (Thomas) Bates, Rita Drake; special friends, Enos Yutzy and Jimmy Behling. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, November 21, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 at Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 12:00pm at the funeral home with Pastor Chuck Jenson officiating. Interment will follow at Hicks Cemetery.
