Obituary

Karen L. DePree, 68, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 24, 1952, the daughter of the late Joe Snyder and Irene (Hyatt) Snyder. Karen and Wayne were married on June 19, 1971 and their careers in retail carried them to different cities in Michigan until landing in Battle Creek in 1989.

Karen is survived by her husband, Wayne DePree; daughter, Sally Rogers; brother, James (Sharyn) Snyder; sister, Janet Champanois; sister-in-laws, Marty Snyder and Marty Sult; four grandchildren, Alec, Evan, Troy and Sherri Rogers and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Richard Snyder and Ron Snyder and daughter, Sherri DePree.

Karen enjoyed cooking, baking, crafts, reading books, crosswords, watching scary movies and going on mystery trips with the grandchildren. She volunteered with one of her grandchildren (Alec) and the local Red Cross. Karen loved helping the "Ankle Biters" (young students) with their homework working as a teacher aid. The world has lost a beautiful soul and Heaven has gained a Kind Angel. She helped raise four grandchildren. They all are blessed to have had her for a grandma.

In accordance with Karen’s wishes, cremation has taken place and family memorial service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Karen’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite 900 Arlington, VA 22202.

Karen & Wayne would always let me stay with them. I got to spend time with them and get to know my nieces...Sherri & Sally. I’m so grateful for that time with them. Comfort comes from knowing that Karen is in Gods embrace. We will miss you greatly. Love Rusty, Kathy Radloff.
