Obituary for Laurence Erwin Case

Laurence (Larry) Erwin Case, age 82, of Bellevue, MI, went home to be with Jesus on August 16, 2015. He was born on August 17, 1932 in Royal Oak, MI, to Clifton Franklin and Charlotte (Holt) Case. He graduated from Battle Creek Central in 1951, but considered Bellevue his true school where he played on two Michigan High School State Championship football teams for the Broncos. After serving in Korea for the US Army he met and married the love of his life, Joyce Joanna Sheldon on June 11, 1955. They recently had celebrated their 60th anniversary.
Laurence was a dairy farmer from an early age and milked the cows and raised crops until purchasing the Love Road Farm from Don Robinson in 1970 where he switched to beef cattle and started working for Ralston in Battle Creek. Although he worked for Ralston for the next 27 years, he continued his love for farming for several years. He was a strong man of few words, so when he spoke with his deep voice, you listened. He was a lifetime member of Baseline United Methodist Church and a pillar of the community. He loved his Lord, his family, and his Baseline friends who are such good people. Laurence and Joyce loved to travel and made several trips to Florida, Branson Missouri, and Pigeon Forge Tennessee. They also enjoyed a 50th anniversary cruise of Alaska and a stay in France on behalf of Ralston. Laurence was a talented woodworker, and made many tables, shelves and other items that will be cherished by those lucky enough to have acquired his masterpieces.
Left to honor Laurence and remember his love are his wife, Joyce, brothers Edward (Pat) Case, Donald (Barbara) Case, and Cameron Case, four children, Sheldon (Tara) Case, Rod (Mandy) Case, Barry (Jill) Case, and Jani (John) Hart; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren, and one special sister-in-law Nancy (Bill) LeClear. Laurence was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Raymond (Bud) Case; Sisters Deanna Perry, Beverly McRae, and Barbara Cooley.
Please join us for a very special memorial service to be held at Baseline United Methodist Church at 11 am on Saturday, August 22, 2015. The family will receive friends at 10 am. Pastor Peggy Baker officiating. Interment will take place at Bell Cemetery on Wing Road at a future date. Memorial donations can be made to Baseline United Methodist Church.
