Lyle Gordon Hoskins, 91, of Climax, Michigan, died on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at his home. He was born on October 8, 1922, the son of Ralph and Ethel Mae (Barber) Hoskins.
Lyle attended Climax Schools and then served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a farmer all of his life.
Lyle is survived by Daughters: Pennie Stevens of East Leroy, MI, Janice Bolton of Climax, MI and Peggy (Mel) Matuschka of Battle Creek, MI; Son: Robert (Lynette) Hoskins of East Leroy, MI; Grandchildren: Kelli (Mike) Phillips, Rob "Storm" Hoskins, Renae (Blake) Barnett, Philip Bolton, Brenda (Mark) Whitman, Jennifer (John) Knowles, Laurel (Tom) Henkel, Leslie Matuschka; and Sister: Barbara Holcomb of Climax, MI. He was preceded in death by his Parents; his Wife: Phyllis Jeanne (Seaver) Hoskins; Granddaughter: Gina Matuschka; Sisters: Pauline Schneider and Blenn Bailey.
Lyle was an avid John Deere man. He loved talking to people. Lyle has been involved with many community organizations including the American Legion, Climax Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Farm Bureau, Soil Conservation District Board, ASC committee member, Leroy Township Planning Commission. He and his wife were founding members of the Farmers Hall of Fame Museum. Members of the Farmers Hall Fame
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Thursday, January 09, 2014, 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
A funeral service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Friday, January 10, 2014, 11:00 am with Chaplain Brendan McGroarty of Great Lakes Hospice officiating. A private interment will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital, Great Lakes Hospice Care or the Charity of one's choice.
