Obituary for Margaret Ozell Cribbs

Margaret Ozell Cribbs

Margaret O. Cribbs went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 24, 2013, transitioning at her home. Margaret was born on September 7, 1931 to Booker T. and Nannie G. (Cummings) Adams, in Holly Spring, Mississippi. She moved from Mississippi to Battle Creek, Michigan in 1953. Margaret had four children Leon and Leo Alfred from her first marriage; and Eric and Barbara Chapman from her second marriage. She met and married Charles W. Cribbs on December 16, 1972. Margaret (or as her children affectionately called her Ma dea), worked and retired from Kellogg’s after 28 years of service. She was a member of Mt. Zion AME Church. There she served as a dedicated usher as well as holding the position of President. She served her church until she became ill. Her grandchildren will always have warm memories staying the night at Grandma’s.
Margaret loved sewing creating beautiful items, she was a great cook, loved to shop finding great bargains. Her love for each and every one of grandchildren was deep and penetrating. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 40 years, Two children Eric Chapman and Barbara Chapman; Two step-daughters; Yvonne A Cribbs-Hoyt and Charlene J. Cribbs all of Battle Creek; One Sister, Hattie Todd; One Brother, T. Edwon Adams both of Battle Creek; 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both her mother and her father, two children, Leon and Leo Alford; one step-daughter, Doris Jean Cribbs; a sister Ezma Blackful and a granddaughter. Tamika Alford.
