Marvin Charles  Ambs
Marvin Charles Ambs 84 of Springfield, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 11, 1930, the son of Owen J. Ambs and Ruth C. (Corson) Ambs.
Marvin was a 1948 graduate of Colon High School. He served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953 where he served 8 months in Greenland. He retired in 1996 from Gleaners Insurance after 27 years of service. He formerly was employed at Sullivan Dairy for 15 years.
Marvin is survived by his Wife of 60 years - Josephine (Pestun) Ambs of Springfield, Michigan; two Sons, Michael Ambs of Springfield, MI, Anthony Ambs of Springfield, MI; Daughter, Julie (Mike) Giddins of Mims, FL; 2 Grandchildren & 4 Great Grandchildren and Twin Brother, Max (Ledith) Ambs of Williamston, MI. He was preceded in death by his Father, Mother and Sister, Naoma Gonzalas.
Marvin enjoyed travel and traveled all over Europe (4trips and 10 cruises). He enjoyed hunting a great deal. He was formerly a 35 year member of the Battle Creek Lion's Club. In 2005 he received the Melvin Jones Fellowship award which is the highest award given for service to the community. He was a member of the Springfield School Board for 9 years and President for 2 of those years.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road on Sunday October 26th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A funeral service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Monday October 27th at 11:00 am with Pastor Glenn Litchfield of Climax United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will take place in the Fort Custer National Cemetery.
Memorials tributes may be made to: Haven of Rest, Calhoun County Animal Shelter or Charity of one's choice.
