Obituary for Nannie Ruth Mixon

Ruth Mixon went to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 12, 2012. She was born December 9, 1921 in Tunnel Springs, AL to the late Lee and Willie Randelson. On December 25, 1951, Nannie married A.G. Mixon at her parents’ home in Alabama. Nannie accepted Christ at an early age and dedicated her life to God and his service. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy for many years where she held positions of Missionary leader and Bible Studies teacher. Some of Nannie’s favorite activities included sewing, cooking, watching Gospel programs, listening to Gospel music, and watching the Dr. Phil program. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Nannie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four sisters, two brothers, one grandson, and three great-grandsons. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Margaret Mixon of Kalamazoo, MI, Johnnie Mae Mixon of Pensacola, FL, Sylvia Carson of Kalamazoo, MI, Helen (Ardell) Barnes of Battle Creek, MI, Bertha Mixon of Battle Creek, MI; adopted daughter, Lucille Murphy of Niles, MI; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lovella Salter of Pensacola, FL, Nazzaree Pugh of Buffalo, NY, Louise Randelson of Mobile, AL, and Elsa Straughn of Pensacola, FL. Family will receive friends at Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Wednesday July 18, 2012 9a.m. to 10a.m. Funeral services will follow at 10a.m with Pastor Albert McKenzie officiating. Interment will take place at 11:30a.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society and Kidney Foundation.
