Ocella Cummings, age 62, of Battle Creek, passed away Thursday December 3, 2015 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital surrounded by family and friends. She was born June 29, 1953 in Scotts Mississippi. She is the daughter of the late Johnny Boyd and Loraine Roberson.

She lived in Memphis Tennessee until moving to Battle Creek Michigan in 1961 when she was 7 years old. She attended Battle Creek Publics Schools. She married Bernard Cummings on February 17, 2004. She was employed at Clark Equipment, Battle Creek Community Hospital, and the Veterans Administration Medical Center. After leaving the VA on April 30, 1987, she became a personal caregiver for Adult Living Services Home care until finally retiring in 2011.

She is survived by two daughters, Francisca O’Della Robinson, Nicole (Albert) Payne, a son Phillip Jerome Robinson, all of Battle Creek Michigan and two step-sons Richard Riley of Battle Creek Michigan and Bernard Harrold of Grand Rapids Michigan. A brother, Theotis (Mevelyn) Robinson of Memphis Tennessee. Seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, a special friend Shirlene Shelby, and her step-father Jeff Jones.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, brother Eddie Roberson, grandson Dominic Robinson-Nicholson and a great nephew Justin Robinson.

Before becoming ill, she enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, listening to music, and watching the Sy-Fy channel. She was a member of the Washington Heights Community House for six years and was involved in many neighborhood activities.
