Paul Thomas Engels, 59, of Battle Creek, Michigan died on Saturday, November 29, 2014. He was born on March 30, 1955, the son of John Joseph Engels and Ruth (Welsh) Engels.
He attended Millington Schools and graduated high school in 1973. He received a Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University in Personnel/Social Science and his Master's Degree from Wayne State University in Labor and Industrial Relations. On October 14, 1984, he married Valerie (Maciag) Engels. They raised their children, Melanie and Tommy, in Battle Creek. Paul worked in the Human Resources Department for the City of Battle Creek for 18 years. He also served on the Pennfield School Board from 1994-2008 and worked at Nottke's bowling ally.
Paul is survived by his Wife of 30 years - Valerie (Maciag) Engels; Daughter, Melanie (Edward Lauermann) Engels; Son, Tommy Engels; Step-grandson, Sam Lauermann; Two Brothers, Dave (Bonnie) Engels, John (Mary) Engels; Sister, Sue (Eric) Kern; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Paul enjoyed spending time in the upper peninsula, collecting coins, and working on his old cars.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A private graveside Service will be held at the Riverside Cemetery on Thursday, December 4, 2014, 1:00 pm with Rodney Welsh officiating.
