Obituary for Peggy Sue Bishop (Wiens)

Peggy Bishop, 52, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 with her family beside her. She was born on November 16, 1958 in Battle Creek, MI, the daughter of Jim and Marty Wiens. She received Christ into her life at a young age, and sought to serve Him faithfully.

In 1980, Peggy married Dan Bishop and together they have one son, Ben. With the Lord’s help, she courageously endured many years of illness battling complications of diabetes, kidney failures and most recently melanoma cancer.

Peggy was a 1976 graduate of Lakeview High School and attended Oak Hills Bible Institute in Bemidji, MN. She also earned a certification in early childhood education. She was previously employed as Daycare Director at Battle Creek Christian School. Prior to that she worked at “Our World for Children” and “Kids Kingdom” at First Wesleyan Church. For many years she also ran her own in-home daycare.

Peggy was a passionate person! She loved reading, crafts, knitting, collecting frogs, but most passionately, children! She was loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, son and parents, Peggy is survived by her brother, Ron (Kim) Wiens, sisters, Barb (Paul) Cochrane, Patty (Rick) Swift, sisters-in-law, Sandy Bishop, Judy Bishop, brother-in-law, Jack (Martha) Bishop and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the “Changing Lives, Changing Spaces” building campaign at First Wesleyan Church in Battle Creek.

Family will receive friends at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Rd. on Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 2-4 & 6-8PM. Funeral services will be held at the First Wesleyan Church, 14425 S. Helmer Rd on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 2:30PM with interment following at Memorial Park Cemetery.
