Obituary for Philip James Camp

Philip James Camp, age 70, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013 surrounded by family. He was born July 29, 1945 the son of LJ Camp and Ethel (Outman) Camp. Philip was a lifetime resident of Battle Creek and Athens areas. He attended Climax High School and later graduated from the Athens Adult Ed program in 1982. Philip was employed with Calhoun County Road Commission, Reth Reily Paving Company, Battle Creek Rendering, and was a truck driver for Normans Food Service.

He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, Tiger’s baseball, watching Westerns, listening to old country music, and bowling, where he bowled for 50+ years. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Philip is survived by his daughter, Janice (Scott) Pawley of Florida; son, Jim (Stephany) Camp of East LeRoy; mother, Ethel Camp of Sherwood; brother, Lenard (Sharon) Camp of Battle Creek; sisters, Donna (Bob) Cook of Climax, Beth (Jerry) Glasscock of Colon; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, LJ Camp and daughter Jill Camp.
