R. L. "Art" Bailey, 79, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. He was born on September 16, 1935, the son of Robert Cleatus Bailey and Lucille (Clark) Bailey.

Art served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and then was employed at Michigan Carton for 42 years, retiring in 1995.

Art is survived by his Wife of 24 years: Sandy Bailey of Battle Creek, MI; Daughter: Sherry (Wally) Pearson of FL; Sons: Mark (Sheila) Bailey of Battle Creek, MI and Gary Bailey of FL; Sisters: Shelby (Rex) Winslow of Battle Creek, MI, Peggy (John) Gates of GA and Winnie Edwards of Battle Creek, MI; Grandchildren: Brandon and Ryan Bailey. He was preceded in death by his Parents, his Sister: Dottie Norris and Brother: Robert "Tom" Bailey.

Art loved golfing, bowling, wood working, carpentry, going to the casino, fishing and playing cards. He was a member of the Polish National Alliance #2416 and a past member of the Eagle Lodge and American Legion Post #298 and Moose Lodge of Marshall, MI.

A memorial service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 1 PM with Pastor James Codde officiating.

Interment will take place in the Fort Custer National Cemetery.
