Robert Lee  Austin
Mr. Robert Lee Austin Jr. 72, a beautiful soul that went to be with his heavenly Father on January 25, 2017 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
Robert (a.k.a Demetrius to his friends) was born on February 8, 1944 in Tampa, Florida the son of Robert L. and Bessie Mae (Boyd) Austin. Robert came to Albion, Michigan in the early 1960's and worked at The Malibu until it closed. He went to work at Cintas Laundry until a severe injury on the job forced him into early retirement. Robert was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Mark C.M.E Church for 30 years where he served as President of the Stewart Board as well as serving on the Trustee and Usher Boards.
Robert was a kind, considerate, hard working man who loved his family and friends. He was always available to anyone who needed him giving out sound advice especially to his children, grandchildren and anyone who would listen to his words of wisdom. Robert loved life and cherished each day to the fullest. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife Phyllis, children, Catina Austin, Devon Austin, Carlotta Austin, all of Battle Creek, son, Ronnie (Carol) Walker of Tampa, Florida, step-children, Danny Manster of Tulsa Oklahoma, grandchildren, Keisha Kelly, Emirrora Austin, Arlana Austin, Cierra Cotton, Cho'le Harris, Christian Roite and Kahmari Finnie all of Battle Creek. Rontayvia Walker, Ronnie Walker, Thomas Walker and James Walker all of Tampa, Florida. Step-grandchildren, Tra Von Manster, To Vion Bolden, Ke'Myah Bolden, Darren Bolden, Kenteris Bolden, NaJee Bolden, Makinzee Bolden and Malayah Bolden all of Battle Creek. Aaliyah Manster, Aanaya Manster and Aamiya Munster all of Tulsa Oklahoma and special grandson, Philip Martin of Battle Creek. Brothers, Joseph (Jan) Austin, Samuel (Bertha) Austin, Ronnie (Linda) Austin, Amos (Gloria) Castillo. Sisters, Linda Green-Austin, Sharon (Johnny) Ivory, Iris R Austin and Andrea (Clifton) Logan all of Tampa, Florida. Brother in-law, Carey Richardson or Battle Creek, sister-in-law, Cheryl (Jon) Anthony of Indianapolis, Indiana and a host of nieces, nephews, step-nieces, step-nephews, cousins and friends who loved him. He was proceeded in death by his parents, sister Minister Elois Warren and brother Thomas Austin.
Services will be held in Tampa, Florida Saturday, February 4, 2017. A memorial service will be held on February 11,2017 at 12:00 noon, at St. Mark C.M.E Church. Memorial contributions can be sent to St. Marks building fund.
