Sally Lee  Koons (Rorison)
Sally Lee (Rorison) Koons passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014 at home with her family by her side.
Sally was born September 25, 1936 in Alpena, MI. She was the daughter of Helen Campbell. She spent time during her childhood living with her Aunt and Uncle, Jane and Max Gaudard in Mt. Pleasant.

Sally was a 1954 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. On June 16, 1956 she married her high school sweetheart, David R. Koons. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1992. She worked at the Battle Creek Enquirer & News during high school. Sally was a stay at home mother her children were in school. In 1974 she went to work in the cafeteria at Leila Hospital. In June 1977 she and Dave open Sally’s Hallmark Shop in downtown Battle Creek. They would later open stores in the Urbandale Plaza and Lakeview Square Mall. After selling the stores Sally became a property manager for Remax/Perrett and Avis Phillips Realtors.
Sally was a member of St. Philip and St. Joseph Catholic Churches. In high school Sally made all her dresses for dances and formal occasions. She enjoyed knitting and spending time with family and friends by her pool.
Sally is survived by her children Karie Sparrow, Kristie (Matt) Hamilton and Kipp (Jennifer Doyle) Koons, all of Battle Creek and Kellie Bagwell of Thomasville, GA, grandchildren, Jacob Bagwell and Sean Sparrow of Kalamazoo, Heather Hamilton, Bobbie Bagwell Kittleton, Elizabeth Hamilton and Erin Hamilton all of Battle Creek and beloved cousin, Pat (Marge) Gaudard of Suttons Bay, MI. She was also preceded in death by her mother and brother, Tom Rorison of Logansport, IN.
Per her wishes cremation and a private graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery have taken place. A gathering to celebrate Sally’s life will be held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church Parish Center on Friday, August 29, 2014, beginning at 2:00PM.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
