Simon J. Swartzle, age 92, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013 at his daughters home. He was born August 24, 1920. Simon served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was an avid outdoorsman.

Simon is survived by daughter, Pat Vanden Heede of Battle Creek, MI; son, Chuck Swartzle of Battle Creek, MI; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; daughter-in-law, Judy Swartzle; and sister, Jeanne Fisher. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hettie Swartzle; 2 sons; great-grand child; parents; 2 brothers; and 2 sisters.


In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. Interment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery on July 2, 2013 at 11:00AM. A luncheon will follow at Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Oaklawn Hospice, 122 High Street, Marshall, MI.
