Vera (Smith) Caldwell, 88, of Battle Creek, MI departed this life and went home to be with her LORD and SAVIOUR on February 21, 2016. She was surrounded by her family and dear friends during this transition. Vera was born on April 14, 1927 to Leila B Pryor (Smith) and Otis Smith in Washington, Arkansas.
Vera was employed by Eaton Town & Yale Valves, for over 20 years of dedicated service, retiring in 1984. She also loved gardening, fishing, homemaking and preparing floral arrangements. She was a long time member of New Deliverance Baptist Church, located in Battle Creek, MI. Reverend Charles Thomas being her pastor. She was also the ELDEST Mother of the Church and was Highly Respected by her peers. She enjoyed singing in the choir and attending church service.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents; Leila B Pryor (Smith) and Otis Smith; her husbands: Prentis H. Gibson; Frank Patrick; Wesley Caldwell and Roosevelt Williams; as well as her son, Parcell Gibson; Grandsons; Devin Dupree Stephenson; Trent Parcell Gibson; David Parcell Gibson and Lorenzo D Marshall.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her surviving children; sons; Prentis H. Gibson, Bornell Gibson and Larry Lee Patrick of Battle Creek, MI. Son, Phillip J. (Nejla) Barbee of Studio City, California. Daughter(s) Sharon K Patrick (Stephenson) Miller of Battle Creek, MI. Patricia (Patrick) Bazemore of McKinley, TX. Special Friend/Daughter, Mertis Morris.

Visitation will be held at Maranatha Original Church of God, 400 Waubascon Road from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm followed by funeral service at 12 noon with Pastor Geraldine Richardson officiating.
