Verlena "Ver" Elizabeth Cobbins, 87, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Minges Manor. She was born on June 17, 1930, the daughter of Leroy Bailey and Minnie G. (Pates) Bailey.
Ver attended Battle Creek Central High School. She retired from Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, IL after 20 years as an LPN. She accepted Christ at an early age and was faithful throughout her early years. Ver always spoke her mind and loved to be around her family and friends.
Ver is survived by her Son, William "Butch" McKinley (Patricia) Richardson Jr; five Grandchildren, Betty Royshell (Gary) Watkins, William M. Richardson, III, Damon T. Richardson all of Battle Creek, MI, Richard (Shelli) Richardson of Hinesville, GA, and Kimberly McGilbray of Virginia Beach, VA; sister-in-laws, Ruth Cobbins and Helen Bailey; special friends, Texiriel "Tex" Gray and Jonice Neville; special cousins, Michael Neville; Jamal Azeem and Bernice Spivey, and a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, friends and other loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her Brother, Chester Bailey and her granddaughter, Kelli McGilbray
Ver loved to go fishing and bowling. She also enjoyed playing cards and watching tennis and golf. She was a great cook and loved to watch cooking shows and provide food for her family and friends at cook-outs. She will be dearly missed by all those she leaves behind.
