Victoria "Vickie" Griffin, 79, of Battle Creek, Michigan, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at The Oaks at North Pointe Woods. She was born on August 26, 1934, the daughter of the late Simon and Mary (Fourteen) Ridge.
Vickie was a 1974 graduate of the KCC School of Nursing and received her BS in Community Health from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY. She was a nurse at White Plaines Hospital and Westchester County Medical Center in New York. She returned to Battle Creek in 1990 and was employed with Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice for 7 years until retiring.
Vickie is survived by her Husband of 56 years: John Griffin of Battle Creek, MI; Sons: John Griffin Jr. of Seattle, WA and Patrick (Amy) Griffin of Chattanooga, TN; Daughters: Candace Penn of Portage, MI and Jacquelyn Pettis of Baltimore, MD; 10 Grandchildren; 4 Great Grandchildren; Brother: Albert (Arlene) Ridge of Cerritos, CA. She was preceded in death by her Parents; 5 Brothers and Sisters.
Vickie loved spending time with her family. She formerly enjoyed playing tennis and walking. She was an active member of the Upton Avenue Original Church of God since the mid 1960's where she served as the President of the Leoda Long Missionaries, Devotional leader, Member of the Sr. Choir and Pastor Aide, served as a church nurse and a member of the Tuesday Noon day Feeding Program doing blood pressure checks for attendees.
Vickie loved to shop for hats, shoes, purses, and clothes, but most of all loved taking care of those in need. Serving as a nurse was a passion and ministry in her life.
Visitation will be held at the Upton Avenue Original Church of God on Friday May 23, 2014 after 11 AM with funeral services beginning at 12 Noon with Rev. Arthur Rhan officiating.
Interment will take place in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
