Obituary for Wayne Frederick Porter

Wayne Frederick Porter
Wayne Frederick Porter passed away December 9th, 2015 at Bronson Residence Hospice in Battle Creek, Michigan. He was 60.

Wayne was born on April 9th, 1955 in Norfolk, Virginia, to William and Rachel Porter. He graduated from Harper Creek High School in 1973. In 1978, he married Jean Porter (née Burns). After many adventures travelling throughout the United States, they bought a little fixer upper overlooking a lake in Battle Creek and through years of hard work crafted a home. Over the course of 37 wonderful years, Wayne and Jean raised 4 children and created a lifetime of memories.
Wayne was an accomplished craftsman, specializing in tile work and decks, but could fix anything that needed to be fixed. He’d be the first to admit he had an extraordinary sense of humor and would do anything for a laugh. He was a humble man.
He loved gardening, cooking, billiards, bowling, and being outdoors. He mastered the old family “Porter House Roll” recipe and they were legendary at family gatherings. But most of all, he loved his family. They were the center of his universe, the joys of his life.
Wayne Porter is survived by his wife Jean, his daughters Sarah Porter-Hoyt, Jenny Porter and Anna Porter; his son Charles Porter; his sisters Joyce Fritz and Linda Swain; his brothers Larry Porter and Ralph Porter; and his granddaughter Ashland Hoyt. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother James Porter.
