Obituary for William Ward Lett

William Ward Lett
William (Bill) Ward Lett Sr. passed away on February 10, 2016 surrounded by love at his daughters home after a brief illness. Bill was born August 5, 1926 in Lansing Michigan to his parents Hollis and Mildred (Apple) Lett. He graduated from Lansing Sexton High School, attended Olivet College and graduated from Western Michigan University. Bill served in the US Army and spent the majority of his working career employed by and retiring from the Carton and Container Division of Post Cereals.

Bill, with his wife Ella (Taylor) had 4 children, that marriage ended in divorce. He then married Etta Horsford. After retiring, Bill and Etta resided in Rotonda West FL for 20 years before he returned to Battle Creek after her passing. Bill enjoyed playing sports, especially golf, and watching MSU sports, the Detroit Tigers and NASCAR. He kept his mind sharp by completing the daily puzzles.

Bill is survived by his children William (Robin) Lett of Muncie, IN; Gary (Doris) Lett of Middlebury, IN and Debbie (Corky) Kimber of Battle Creek. Grandchildren: Jason (Kristin) Lett, Battle Creek; Martin Lett of Phoenix AZ; Thad (Jessica) Kittrell of Columbus OH; Matt (Robyn) Kittrell of Muncie IN; Anna (Greg) Burris of Columbus OH; Christina (Jeff) Bradberry of Raleigh NC; Jessica Lett of Middlebury, IN; Mike Kimber and Josh Kimber, both of Battle Creek and 12 great grandchildren. Sisters: Helen Thomas, Perry MI and Geraldine Leach, Palmeto, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Etta, and, sadly, his daughter, Judith Lett.

In accordance with his wishes there will be no visitation.
