Obituary for William Francis Lyons

William Francis  Lyons
William Francis Lyons III, 60, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 unexpectedly at home. He was born on December 24, 1955, the son of William Francis Lyons and Patricia A. (Jewell) Lyons in Fall River, Massachusetts.
Billy attended Sacred Heart School and was a former member of Sacred Heart Parish where he served as an alter boy in his youth. He graduated from BMC Durfee High School in Fall River, MA. After high school he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1975 to 1979 before being honorably discharged. Billy moved to Battle Creek, Michigan in the early 1980's.
Billy is survived by his significant other, Kathy McClain; Brother, Michael P. Lyons; Sisters, Maureen T. (Robert) Peloquin and Cathleen L. Moniz; Nephews, Nicholas Francis Lyons, Nicholas Peloquin, and William Deston; Nieces, Alyssa Lyons and Cara Peloquin; Step-Siblings, William Heaney, Claire Louise Margetta, Ellen Nassiff, James Heaney, and Susan Carvahlo; Beloved friends, Mike Bramble and Brian Maxon. He was preceded in death by his parents, William F. Lyons, Patricia A. (Jewell) Lyons and Step-mother Claire L. (Heaney) Lyons, Sisters, Sheila M. Lyons, Anne E. Lyons, Mary A. Lyons and his very best friend of many years, Vaughn Armstrong.
Billy enjoyed volunteering in the community and volunteered for the Salvation Army as a bell ringer and the Red Cross. He also Volunteered at the VA for many years. He loved all types of music and sports. Billy could talk about sports to anyone for hours but his favorites were baseball and football. He was also an avid reader of books and newspapers.
A funeral service will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service , 375 W. Dickman Road, on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, 12:00 pm with Deacon Vincent Genco officiating.
Interment will take place in Fort Custer National Cemetery.
