Willis Hamilton Winton, 90, of Battle Creek, MI, died on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center. He was born on November 23, 1923, the son of Quitman Hamilton Winton and Eunice Tine (Copeland) Winton.
Willis lived in portage for 20 years until moving to Battle Creek in 2002. He served in the US Army during WWII and was employed at United Steel & Wire for 36 years until retiring in 1958.
Willis is survived by his Wife of 40 years: Alene F. (Fiske) Winton; Step-Daughters: Susan (Douglas) Skillman and Shari (Timothy) Lanphear; Step-Son - Johnathan Culp all of Battle Creek, MI; Nieces: Nancy Sheldon, Debbie Small and Linda Tarte; and Nephew: Douglas Paine. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Sisters: Pearl Paine, Hassie Bigley and Jewell Phillips; and Brother: Wheeler Winton.
Willis was a member of First Assembly of God in Kalamazoo since 1983 where he served as an usher for 15 years, a greeter for 4 years and played on the golf team. He loved golfing. He accepted Jesus as his Savior in 1975.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Kalamazoo First Assembly of God, 5555 Oakland Drive, Kalamazoo, MI, on Wednesday January 15, 2014 at 1 PM with Rev. Dave Barringer officiating.
Interment will take place in the Fort Custer National Cemetery.
