Hal was an incredibly close friend through the years though we lived some distance apart for the last few decades of his life.  He seemed happy after meeting Brandon, who unfortunately predeceased him.  Got into birding the last few years and seemed content to be the republicinator on the internet.

Our country thanks him for his service in the army during trying times.  He was a good soldier and a good friend and will be missed.
