Obituary for Harry Miller

Harry   Miller
Harry Miller, 83, of Battle Creek, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. Born on July 15, 1930 in Middletown, NY to Selina J. and William D. Miller, he was the fourth of eight children. Working on the family farm and time spent in 4H developed a love for agriculture and animals. While on military leave from Korea, he married sweetheart Joan E. Wilson on January 11, 1953 (she survives in Battle Creek). Also surviving are four children, Jamie (Judith) Miller, Jody Glover, Chris Miller, Kip (Debra) Miller; nine grandchildren, Randee (Christopher) Cantrell, Kaycee (Chad) Fulbright, Kyle Miller, Kirby (Tyler) Bloomfield, Keara Miller, Alyssa Hartsig, Bradley, Nathan, and Grant Miller; six great-grandchildren, Brenden and Hunter Fulbright, Zoey Glover, Noah Cantrell, Aurora Cantrell, Tucker Fulbright.

Harry earned degrees from Delhi Technical Institute and Michigan State University. He worked as a high school vocational technology instructor in Standish and Mason, MI and went on to become the Vocational Technology Director for Harper Creek Schools, Assistant Director for the CISD, Van Buren Area Vo-Tech Center Director, and VBISD Assistant Superintendent. Miller retired in 1997. From 1965-1976 he and family enjoyed living life on Beadle Lake and later moved to Paw Paw, MI. He attended Gull Lake Bible Church and spent time contributing to family projects. He was passionate about education and was always teaching and learning from others. He deeply valued all those who helped define his person and his outlook. A private family interment will be held this spring at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Bronson Health Foundation or Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence.
