So many memories

I first met Mr Johnson around my 4th grade year. He and Mrs Johnson were friends of my mom and dad, Paul and Alice King. They used to come to our house a lot to visit and Mr J helped my dad finish off our basement, which I enjoyed for years. Mr J coached my Post School sports teams, football, basketball. When I went to Southeastern Junior High he was my shop teacher and I first experienced "The Paddle." We also had many conversations regarding my "potential." He became a dear friend and counselor. I had no talents in shop. All my projects ended up being ashtrays or cribbage boards! I always loved going to dinner with my folks to the house on Grenville. Loved to hang out with the Johnson daughters! I got to spend lots of time at their cabin at Lake St Helen. I never fished more than there and trout fishing the AuSable river with Mr J and my dad. Mr J was also responsible for landing me a summer job (1964) at Artesia Beach at Lake St Helen. He would let me borrow his car (a Ford Falcon I believe) to go to the Music Box Dance Club over by Houghton Lake. He was like a second father for a lot of years. We lost touch for many years after I left Battle Creek but I was always updated by my mom as to exactly what and where they were doing. I'll never forget Mr Johnson and his wonderful wife Jean and their beautiful family. God bless them all in their loss. I loved them all.
